Creating a Custom Lori Ring With

McKenna Barry

"I’ve always been drawn to designs that stand the test of time, which is probably why, back in 2018 when I knew Brian was going to propose, I played it safe. I told him I wanted a round-cut solitaire, because it was simple, classic, something I couldn’t possibly regret. Fast forward to today, I’ve built a career on creating spaces that make me feel something, and it only felt right to honor that part of myself with the ring I wear every day. I reached out to a custom jeweler to reset my original diamond and I started a Pinterest board full of inspiration photos (as is expected by any millennial, duh), none of which felt perfect without tweaking. Then I came across a photo of The Lori. At first, I added it to my digital pile of photos thinking I’d just pull elements from it later. But I kept coming back to it, again and again, until I realized I didn’t want to change a single thing. It wasn’t inspiration, it was the ring. I respectfully bowed out of the design process with the other jeweler, because I wanted to go right to the source of the design that I couldn't stop dreaming about and the rest, as they say, is history. Spoiler: now I can't stop staring at my hand."

McKenna wears her Lori ring with the 2mm Beaded Band, but it also shines beautifully alongside the Thin Gold Stacker Band or the Skinny Rope Band, giving the Lori its moment to sparkle.

While natural diamonds and lab-grown diamonds have the same chemical, physical, and optical properties, the rarity of a natural diamond is what truly sets the two apart from each other. Natural diamonds are finite and rare whereas there is no limit to how many lab-grown diamonds can be made in the future. This can ultimately impact the value of a lab-grown diamond overtime.

There is no visual difference to the naked eye between a natural diamond and lab-grown diamond. They all have varying types of color, clarity, size, and shape and score a 10/10 on the Mohs hardness scale. The only way to tell the difference between a natural diamond and lab-grown diamond is with specialized equipment.
